Our Worship - Music

Our organist and choirmaster since 2001 is the distinguished Church musician John Dexter. John was organ scholar of St. Paul’s Cathedral, London, prior to his appointment (at age 21) as Organist and Master of the Choristers in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 1977, a post he then occupied for 24 years.

Our choir here is four part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) and sings a wide repertoire of anthems, as well as leading the worship’s singing. There is also a Junior Church Choir in place for several years, accompanied by either piano or guitar and which has a distinctive tee shirt ‘uniform’.

In recent years, music here is on occasion led at services by Gospel (African) singing groups and also by our Youth Club music group. This is a sign that both the ‘traditional’ and the ‘contemporary’ can still live under the one, broad roof..
